Ludlow racecourse is a right handed National Hunt course situated in Shropshire. The course is a rectangular shape which is 1 mile and 4 furlongs on circumference. Ludlow racecourse only offers winter horse racing with the Forbra Gold Challenge Cup being the biggest meeting which is in February.

The curse is best suited for fast paced horses who are capable at jumping quickly. There are 9 fences in total on the chase course with a water jump and 2 open ditches. The final straight to the finish there are 3 fences to jump making it quite a slow race towards the end. It’s the home straight where we really see how much the horses have left in them to win. Often with horses winning by at least 10 lengths. There are a few minor undulations n the course but generally Ludlow is very flat.

This season Richard Johnson, Harry Skelton and Wayne Hutchinson are the jockeys to watch. All 3 with a strike rate over 35%. Jeremiah McGrath over 8 races so far has a 50% strike rate which is impressive but we will see how he does this winter if he can keep up the winning streak.

The top trainers currently are Henderson and Skelton. Henderson is the trainer to look out for over the winter with an impressive 38% strike rate over 21 runs.
